  1. Sydney/Newcastle
    Drive to Newcastle from Sydney 2.25 hours

    Spend the morning exploring Sydney then drive to Newcastle to spend the night. Maybe checkout the ocean baths time permitting before going to bed.

  2. Port Macquire
    Drive to Port Macquire from Newcastle 2.8 hours

    Check out the Koala Hospital there are guided tours of the facility at 1500 every day.

  3. Yamba/Iluka
    Drive to Yamba from Port Macquire 3 hours

  4. Byron Bay - Tamborine Mountain
    Drive to Byron Bay from Yamba 1.5 hours

  5. Brisbane
    Drive to Brisbane from Byron bay 2 hours

    See Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

  6. Australia Zoo
    Drive to Australia Zoo from Brisbane 1 hour

  7. Fraser Island K’gari
    Drive to Fraser Island from Australia Zoo 5.5 hours

    This is the world’s largest sand island and has wild Dingos. We may end up cutting something like Yamba or Port Macuire to get extra time here.

  8. Rockhampton
    Drive to Rockhampton from Fraser Island 7 hours

    This is for a distillery tour, but with the long drive we may cut this day out.

  9. Eungella NP
    Drive from Rockhampton to Eungella National Park 4.75 hours

    This is the best place to find a platypus! Best changes are at dusk or dawn. More Info

  10. Whitsunday Islands
    Drive from Eungella NP to Airline Beach to catch a boat to the Whitsunday Islands 2.25 hour drive

  11. Townsville - Cairns
    Drive from Airline Beach (Whitsunday Islands port) to Townsville en route to Cairns 7.5 hour drive

    This is another long drive that I may want to break up into two days by ommiting Eungella NP or other from the itinerary.

  12. Cairns
    No drive here unless we stay at Townsville the day before.

    Possibly go to the aquarium at night and see the Great Barrier Reef from there.

  13. Cairns/Great Barrier Reef
    Snorkel/Dive the Great Barrier Reef via boat ~1.5-2 hour boat ride

  14. Cape Tribulation
    Drive to Cape Tribulation from Cairns 3 hours

    Visit Daintree National Park where there are lots of white sand beaches.
