Itinerary

Day One

Land in Brisbane and depending on what time it is check out the city then stay at a central AirBnB for the night. brisbane overhead view

Day Two

Take public transport (apx. 1 hr) or an Uber to Lone Pine Koala Sancturary to see the Koalas in the morning and afternoon then wander Brisbane for the evening. We’ll be staying in the same AirBnB from the previous night. lonepine koala sanctuary

Day Three

Pick up our campervan and go to Australia Zoo (1 hour on the road) on the way north. Spend the night at a campground in Hervey Bay to prepare for an all day trip to K’gari in the morning. This drive should take 2.5 hours from the Australia Zoo. steve

Day Four

We’re spending the entire day (0830 to 1830) in K’gari for a tour of the island with a 4wd bus, this starts right in Hervey Bay so no driving today. After getting back and off the ferry we’ll get dinner in Hervey Bay and make it back to the same campground from the previous night. kgari

Day Five

Today we’re driving up to Agnes Water and stopping by sites on the way (beaches mostly) then staying at a campground in 1770. This drive should be just short of 4 hours. Hopefully we’ll spot some Kangaroos here. 1770

Day Six

Back on the road north through the Yeppoon area toward Mackay. This is a longer drive, about 6.5 to 7 hours, but it is necessary to get close to Airlie Beach so we can drop off the van and get on the yacht in the afternoon tomorrow. spaceship

Day Seven

Today’s a short drive, less than two hours up to Airlie Beach. We have to drop off the camper by 1500 and catch the boat by 1600 so it’ll be important that we get to the area early. Once we’re on the boat we can relax and enjoy the Whitsunday Islands. summerJo

Days Eight and Nine

We’re on a yacht. We’ll be sailing around, going diving and enjoying some of the beaches around the islands. whitsunday

Day Ten

Off the boat back into Airlie Beach for the night. We’ll be departing the yacht at 1600 so there’s only time for dinner and laundry most likely. airlieBeach

Day Eleven

To the airport and we’re off to Cairns! We’ll pass through Brisbane again on the way over though as a 1 hour layover, no big deal. Once we’re on the ground we have another AirBnB to stay at for the next three days. cairns

Day Twelve

Today we’ll take public transport or Uber to the Kuranda Scenic Railway to take the train to Kuranda, check out things there for a while and head back on the 1.5 hour skyrail (gondula) ride back to Cairns. skyrail

Day Thirteen

As of now, I’m leaving this one open. I like the idea of doing a day trip up north to the rainforest. We’ll see and I’ll update this if I want to put in solid plans.

Day Fourteen

OFF TO NEW ZELAND! nz
